VF Corp. Yes Please!

The first pair of shoes that I can remember buying were a pair of suede blue high-top vans. Originally called Style 38, now Sk8 Hi, I can still remember going to try them on at a tiny Vans store on Beach Blvd. I think it was on the border of Huntington Beach, and Westminster. This was before Bella Terra existed and things looked much different. My alcohol abused mind is struggling to see the small, checkered Vans sign in the corner window of that dirty strip mall.
I don't quite recall why I wanted these shoes so badly, but looking back as my adult self, I would venture to guess that my big brother who both surfed and skated wanted a pair.
Anyway, I had my mind set on these shoes, so I saved my allowance, my parents took me to the Vans store, and I purchased them for $39.99.
I've always been a Vans girl, except for a brief preppy period in 7th/8th grade when white Jack Purcells with the blue strip on the toe were all the rage. I've always enjoyed the shape of my foot looking down in Vans vs. Converse. I thought Chucks made me look like I had banana feet.
Looks like Dickies and Vans are gonna make a go of it. From what I have seen them put out so far, it feels like this VF Corp thing was a "duh" that came to fruition.
I'm doing....

HA-CAH-UTE.
The new Mary Janes are worth looking at too. Although, the rubber on the toe is a tad pointy, but def not as bad as "banana feet" Chuck Taylors.
Also, I love history, this video shows how Vans got their start back in the day.
"Go Ana-slime!"
