Handmade for a Seasonless Spring
For this spring/summer season, I’m designing with the understanding that Southern California never fully commits to heat. Instead of designing for extremes, I’m focusing on softness, lightness, and layers—pieces that feel seasonal without being temperature-dependent.
My inspiration for this collection is “Cherry Blossom Blue.”
Cherry blossoms have always been one of my favorite flowers. What draws me to them is their randomness and imperfection. Each blossom is unique, and up close they feel delicate and organic. But when they hang together on a branch, they create something joyful, balanced, and intentional. That contrast—between imperfection and harmony—guides my design process.
The color palette is inspired by the soft pinks and off-whites of cherry blossoms paired with sky blue. I love how these colors exist effortlessly in nature. Against a clear blue sky, cherry blossom trees feel calm, light, and uplifting. I want that same feeling to translate into my work.
Texture plays a central role in this mood board, especially through handmade crochet elements. Crochet allows me to embrace irregularity, movement, and human touch, qualities that align naturally with the form of cherry blossoms. Each handmade piece carries subtle variation, reinforcing the idea that imperfection can be beautiful and intentional.
By combining crochet textures with light, airy materials, I’m exploring designs that feel personal, adaptable, and rooted in craft. This approach reflects both the Southern California environment and my own creative practice - where design, handwork, and emotion intersect.
This mood board represents the beginning of the process: defining the atmosphere, materials, and values that will shape the rest of the season.
